What We’ve Been Learning – Spring Week 6

This week we have been thinking about heroes, what makes a good one? What are the qualities you need to be a hero? We have then come up with a character to be the hero in our own adventure story. We have planned our stories and written a dramatic opening.  We are looking forward to writing our stories next week.

In maths we have been focusing on measures.  We have been converting metric units of measurement and solving problems involving measures.  We worked on an extended problem using TV timings.

In art, we have been looking at Australian aboriginal art and experimenting with techniques.  We have looked at the symbols for people and animals and created pictures which tell a story.

In PSHE we have been preparing for transition to secondary school and thinking about building resilience.

We have been playing netball in our PE lessons.

The highlight of our week was the fantastic Photography Exhibition at the Ropetackle Arts Centre.  This was very successful and well attended. The children have raised over £100 for Shelterbox and are featured in the Shoreham Herald! Well done for all their fabulous work.

Thank you for all your support! J

Things to try at home:

Please continue with 10 minute SAT Busters – these are really helpful.  Also, we need to keep practicing times tables as these need to be completely secure. Look at bus and train timetables, asking your child which bus to get to arrive by a certain time etc. would also be helpful.
