What We’ve Been Learning – Spring Week 7

This week we have been writing exciting adventure stories.  We have included action sequences, and we have been looking at various aspects of grammar, and how to use these in our writing to make it more engaging to the reader (relative clauses, powerful verbs and adverbs, figurative language).  We have edited and improved these carefully and assessed our own work.  We have visited the library this week.

In maths we have been continuing to focus on measures.  We have been looking at area, perimeter and volume.  We have learned the formulae for calculating the area of triangles and quadrilaterals, and for working out the volume of a cuboid.

In art, we have used the techniques we looked at last week to paint our own designs onto brown paper which looks really effective.

In Science we have been studying Evolution and Inheritance.

We have been playing netball in our PE lessons.

We have also been having a go at learning some Italian with Mrs Phillippo!

Thank you for all your continued support! J

Things to try at home:

Try estimating area, perimeter or volume of things around the home.  Continue to work on fluency skills in maths (quick recall of number facts), and ask your child about the pattern they are looking at in spelling at the moment.

Have a good half term, we will see you on Tuesday 26th February (Monday 25th is an INSET day).
