Swiss Gardens PTA
The School is very lucky to an extremely active PTA who contribute in excess of ten thousand pounds each year to the school. As a parent, grandparent or carer of a child at the school you are automatically a member of the PTA and everyone is welcome to attend our regular meetings which are held twice a month – once in the evening and another in the morning.
The PTA at Swiss Gardens plays an essential role in fundraising to supply resources for the school and is dedicated to enhancing the learning and play environment for both pupils and teachers.
All funds are raised with regular events across the school year including:
- Halloween Events
- Christmas Fair
- Christmas Cards and Teatowels/Bags
- Quiz Nights
- Film Nights
- Sports Day Catering
- Summer Fair
Donations To The School
Over the past few years the PTA has contributed much to the school, examples are:
- Swiss Gardens Sports Kits, Hoodies and Joggers for events
- Footballs, Goals and other sporting equipment
- Topic Work donations to classes
- Books, Dictionaries and Library resources
- Cameras for Teachers
- Play Equipment
- Kitchen Refurbishment
All of above has only been achieved at the school because of time and money donated by volunteers and with the support of our brilliant parents.
The PTA runs regular meetings , dates of which can be found in the school calendar. Everyone is welcome to attend and one meeting takes place in the evenings at the Crabtree Inn with the other taking place in a local cafe in the mornings, children are welcome at this meeting.
The PTA would love to hear from you if you would like to be involved in any capacity. You can email on email@example.com any time or pop an idea into the suggestions box in the office – The PTA also runs a Facebook Group (Swiss Gardens PTA) and details of the Trustees can be found in the school office and on the notice board in the playground. The PTA also works closely with year group Facebook pages and is often found selling tickets for various events and raffles in the playground.
The PTA is made up of a voluntary Board of Trustees and relies on support from parents, grandparents, teachers, and carers to run events and support in fundraising.
Melita Ogden – Chair
I’ve been working for Swiss Gardens PTA for two years as Secretary and took over as Chairman in September 2017. I have a background in Business, Event and Project Management and have worked in industries as diverse as Football, Music, Estate Agency and Web Design. I have a 9 year old , Heidi who is in Year 5 , and my youngest , Lilly , recently started in Reception. I volunteer 2 mornings a week in Year 5 as well as the PTA role and am committed to making this year’s PTA events successful, profitable and above all fun for everyone. I really do love meeting new people in and around the school, we are extremely lucky to have such a fantastic, creative and keen community of parents at Swiss Gardens. I really hope to meet more of you over the coming year.
Louisa Bloor – Vice Chair
I”ve been working for the PTA for 2 years and have a background in Retail Banking where I worked for 17 years now covering many different roles from Trainer to Branch Manager. I live in Shoreham with my Mum and my son Sam who’s currently in year 1. I’m super organised and sociable and I really enjoy being a part of the PTA and contributing to raising money for the school in any way we can think of! I look forward to meeting more parents at our events!
Sam Webb- Secretary
I took over as secretary in September 2017, my daughter is in year 4 and I’m really happy to be more involved with the school , helping to raise funds and carry out events to benefit all the children at Swiss Gardens.
Jacqueline King – Treasurer
I have been a parent at the school for 2 years now and I have just recently started working for the PTA. My daughter Daisy is in Year 2 and my youngest, George has just started in Reception, so I am easily found in the KS1 playgrounds. Outside of the school gates, my background is predominantly as a Product &Commercial Manager, with some finance roles too. I do like a spreadsheet and analysing numbers but I have a creative side too and the PTA is a great creative outlet! I think the Swiss Garden’s community (parents, carers & kids) is pretty special and we will have fun with this year’s events; we will also work hard to raise lots of funds for memorable learning experiences for the kids.
